Hand Cream Gift Bag: Three Sizes

I love making 3D gift bags, boxes, etc. When I saw this cute little bag on Pinterest by Elaine Smith Designs I had to try it.

Elaine's patterned used a 6" x 4-1/2: piece of cardstock. So the first bag turn out a little smaller than I expected. It's just right for a travel size tube of hand lotion, about 1 ounce. So I set out tor adjust it to make it fit a tube of my favorite lotion by Bath & Body, which is 8 ounces. It fit perfectly! Then I thought maybe a medium size would be nice to have as an alternative option. So, now I feel a little like Goldilocks. LOL Maybe this one would be "just right" for someone.

I made a video to show how easy this bag is to make.

*If you have directional paper, score the 1/2" on the short side, that you want the top of your bag to be.

SMALL BAG:

DSP: 6" x 4-1/2"

  • Score on the short end at 2" and 4"

  • One the long side score at 1 and 5-1/2""

  • One the short side, down from the 1" horizontal score line score at 1" and 3"

MEDIUM BAG:

DSP: 8-1/2" x 6-1/2"

  • Score on the short side at 1/2" and at 6"

  • Score on the long side at 1-1/2" and 8"

  • On the short side, along the 1-1/2" score line, down from score from the 1-1/2" score at 1-1/2" and 4-/2"

LARGE BAG:

DSP 7-1/2" x 10-1/2"

  • Score on the short side at 3-1/2" and 7"

  • Score on the long side at 1/2" and 8-3/4"

  • One the short side, down from the 1-1/4" score line at 1-3/4" and 5-1/4"

The process for putting together each bag is the same. Here are some photos to help:

STEPS TO ASSEMBLE BAG:

  1. Burnish all the score lines. (photo 1 showing back side of the DSP)

  2. Cut along the vertical score lines at the bottom, up to the horizontal score line (photo 1)

  3. Cut out the small corners along the 1/2" score line at the top and bottom (photo 2)

  4. Apply adhesive along the 1/2" flap (photo 3)

  5. Close the bag matching the adhesive edge to the opposite edge (photo 4)

  6. Round the corners at the top, with the bag folded (photo 5)

  7. Punch a hold at the top for the ribbon (photo 6)

Decorate as you desire!
