April Class Card #3, "Friendly Gnomes"
This was my favorite card to make, featuring the "Gnome dies" and the cute little legs. I saw this fun, swinging legs technique on a couple of Pinterest boards and a couple different techniques, one using a brad, but I chose Susan Campfield's technique using a Mini Dimensional.
The Gnomes will be retiring May 1, 2023.
I love how the little legs swing back and forth. Guess I'm a sucker for interactive cards. I love playing with them and making them.
The legs, nose, beard and hat are all cute little dies. I stamped the legs and hat from the same pattern paper. The nose is die cut from a scrap of pink, I think maybe Petal Pink, I just grabbed a scrap from my pink bin.
You will also need a scrap of most any cardstock but I used a piece of white card stock about 1" x 2" and trimmed it down a bit. I also used my retired 1/2" punch.
Here are the steps for putting together the hidden mechanism :I trimmed back the white piece a bit to make it fit behind the beard and legs.
When applying the Mini Dimensional, make sure that the legs are in the right position on the background layer, then put the Mini Dimensional at the top of the hole. Make sure not get any adhesive on the legs, except where it attaches to the swing mechanism.
When attaching the beard make sure it covers the mechanism. You may need to trim the white scrap with the hole a bit before attaching it to the legs.
Put Mini Dimensionals on the back of the beard and the hat so they are level with the mechanism.
I used the "Stitched Rectangles" #151820, which is retiring May 1, 2023.
The white cardstock measures 2-1/2 x 3-1/2" when die cut.
When we made the card in class I amended my sample a bit by embossing the Pear Pizzaz layer with the Bricks & Mortar embossing folder, which is also retiring #149643. It adds a bit more interest to the card.
We cut a 1" x 4" strip of Basic White that was stamped with the sentiment and then shaped with the Banners Pick A Punch #153608, not retiring! Hurrah!153608.
The card is embellished with Pebbles Enamel Shapes,#158141 (retiring)
I liked to envision the little gnome walking on a cobblestone path.
I hope you enjoyed this card. It was a blast to make! And play with!
Happy Stamping!
